Vivian Lee is a senior at Rowland High School serving as region 9’s president and has been in FCCLA for 5 years. FCCLA has helped her improve in her public speaking and communicate with others. Outside of FCCLA she is involved in volunteering, Science Olympiad, EnviroScience, CSF, NHS, basketball, and badminton. In her free time, she enjoys watching Anime, K-Drama, C-Drama, listening to R&B, spending time with friends, playing games, and snacking. She hopes to pursue a career in pharmacy.
Emily Cheng is a Junior at Rowland High School. She is serving as Region 9’s Vice President with this year being her 3rd year in FCCLA. FCCLA has allowed her to become a better presenter along with develop important leadership skills. She’s competed in Interior Design and Public Policy Advocate while learning many different life skills in each profession. Outside of FCCLA, Emily is part of several different extracurricular activities including clubs such as CSF, NHS, and Environmental Science Club along with varsity basketball In the future, she hopes to major and pursue a career in architecture.
Nicole Rinaldi is a junior at Rowland High School. She is serving as the Region 9 Secretary and is completing her fifth year in FCCLA. She has previously competed in Interior Design and Event Management. FCCLA has helped her develop her leadership skills and pushed her out of her comfort zone. She is also involved in badminton, dance, theatre, ASB, Key Club, Minds Matter, and CSF. She enjoys reading and baking in her free time. In the future, she hopes to major in psychology with a minor in business and become a clinical psychologist.
Kylan Arreola is a junior at Paramount High School. He is serving as Region 9’s Treasure. FCCLA has allowed Kylan to network with different people from all around California and allowed him to become more confident when speaking in front of multiple people. He won first place in Sports Nutrition at the 2022 State Conference in Riverside, CA. Kylan has various hobbies which include, playing soccer, motocross, filming and editing videos, and playing video games.
Rebeca Guevara is a Freshman at Rowland High School. She is serving as the region 9 historian. She has been in FCCLA for 2 years. Rebeca has competed in Culinary Display and placed 2nd at the 75th annual SLC and 1st at the 76th annual SLC. FCCLA has helped Rebeca develop her leadership and has been able to help her get out of her comfort zone. Rebeca has shown her leadership by changing and advocating for her school's dress code. In her free time Rebeca likes to crochet, embroider, read, and hang out with friends.
Katie Takata is a junior at Torrance High School. She is serving as the Region 9’s Reporter and has been in FCCLA for 1 year. FCCLA allows Katie to develop her leadership skills, work together with others, and develop life long skills for her future. Katie is involved in Fashion Club, Korean Culture Club, Tartar Ladies, CSF, and is currently in Girl Scouts pursing her gold award. Katie is hoping to major in Graphic Design or Design Media Arts with a minor in Business.
Mrs. Taylor has been teaching FCS classes and advising FCCLA State, Region and Chapter members for over 20 years at Rowland High School. She is a graduate of CSU, Chico majoring in Child Development with a minor in psychology. She teaches in the Child Development and Education pathway courses called Child Development, Life Management and Parenting & Family Life. She is married with two children, ages 16 and 13. Her favorite part of teaching is seeing students connect with her in their journey through high school and after they graduate, hearing how she helped them in so many ways. She enjoys advising FCCLA because of the relationships fostered over the years as their advisor, watching them dare to challenge themselves and take on bigger responsibilities at school and later on in life.
